1.1 Background of the Study
The term “folklore” pertains to a story verbally told among people. In the Philippines, fFolklores have since existed even before the colonial era. These fFolklores hold the very traditional values and beliefs of Filipinos before their colonizers influenced them (reference). Because of the Philippine’s geographical location, archipelagic nature, various ethnic groups, and diverse historical influences that structured the Filipinos as to who they are now, the existing Folklores available today are very rich and varied (Eugenio, 2002).

Although visual representation for words and ideas date back as early as the Egyptian hieroglyphs, Trajan's Column in 113 AD began the use of illustrative visuals to portray a story (Eisner, 2001). In the Philippines, the first person known to have used sequential words and pictures for a narrative was Jose Rizal, the Philippine's national hero. The comic called "The Monkey and the Tortoise" (1886) was used as a propaganda against the Spaniards (Marcelo, 1980). Incidentally, the comic book was also based on a popular Filipino folktale. The magazine 'Lipang Kalabaw' by Lope K. Santos, and 'Telembang' contained propaganda catoonscartoons against the American colonies. Other iconic political cartoonists were Fernando Amorsolo and Jorge Pineda who is credited coining the character 'Juan dela Cruz'. It will also omit results of effectiveness in rekindling the interest of Filipino youth in Folklores. The output will leave out the goal of giving an immediate boost on the return of the Filipino folk literature, because that will take a long time of consistent stimulation on the interest of the modern Filipino towards the Filipino Folklore. Rather, it can only create awareness to people who may have forgotten or have not yet explored the field of traditional Filipino literature. Likewise, the educational and learning capability of the comic will be also excluded in this study. The completed output will not be testing users if the motion comic had a learning effect on them. The researchers will be only focusing on the processes involved in creating a web-based motion comic. How the different theories are applied will be the highlight of this study. As for the content, the sound design will be limited to background music, and foley sound effects. It will not have an audio narration or voice acting. The language to be used for the text will be available in English.
