Organizations are working hard in today’s world of business, not only to remain competitive, but also to focus on stability and structure. Employees are the backbone of an organization. It is becoming more important to offer quality HRM programs to staff, in order to support the retention of trained and experienced staff. Employees have always been concerned with salary however, there is a new focus emerging that looks at compensation as a whole entity. The total pay package has a direct impact on the successful recruitment, selection and the retention of staff within any organization. This pay package is critical for any business to remain competitive in today’s business world. Competitive compensation packages are vital to both large and small organizations as they encourage the retention of talented staff.

A compensation package includes salary but also includes other non-salary benefits such as: health-care benefits, 401(k) plans, PTO (paid time off) and other perks. Businesses often utilize experienced Human Resources professionals to review, update and create salary scales and compensation packages for new hires.
