The use of illegal drugs in the United States and other countries around the world is one of the biggest problems in today community. Illegal drugs are drugs that are restricted by the government. Moreover, some medical drugs have chemicals that can help people with pain and stress. But when people are under the influence of illicit drugs, they can experience many side effects such as: liver cancer, heart, and brain disease. Illegal drugs are being used by many types of people around the world; they cost a large amount of money and negatively affect people both psychologically and physically. According by Barry McCaffrey, “Although the struggle to reduce drug use is not a war, illegal drugs contribute to the deaths of more than 50,000 Americans each year--close to the number of U.S. casualties during the entire Vietnam War” (McCaffrey 5). The Vietnam War was the cause of tension for many Americans for years because the United States lost the largest amount of soldiers. This number of deaths makes many Americans frightened when they hear about the Vietnam War. However, the illicit drugs have killed much more Americans than that war, and they are more dangerous than the war or any other weapons because it has killed more people gradually over time. Drug-related deaths tend to kill more Americans, and account for a higher number of lives lost compare with other causes of death such as war, illness, and accidents. Illicit drugs have become the most dangerous chemical substances in society; for example, there is an estimate that thousands of people die annually due to illicit drug users. This is more than the hundreds of people who die every day from car accidents, stroke, or cancer. It is known as a mental addiction because they depend on stimulants to seek pleasure or comfort. Therefore, many parents who work hard for the whole day, and they would try illegal drugs to relax after a long day, but lead their children on the wrong path toward using drugs. From many surveys about drug use claim, addicted Americans want to feel high at parties feel interested doing whatever they want. Drugs are really dangerous, if people want to find some new challenges or feelings, they could choose some others things for satisfying themselves. If they have experienced something disappointed, they can share with their best friends. They can then figure out some way to solve it, not use drugs to forget
