ISIS has become more and more dangerous as the years go by. One reason why they have been so dangerous is because how quickly they gained recruits. ISIS began many years ago, but not until the past three years have they started to grow rapidly. Since they have started to grow so rapidly more and more terrorist attacks have happening and being credited to them. Some attacks may have been planned by the top leaders of ISIS, while others could have been carried out by individuals in support of ISIS. I believe that ISIS needs to be defeated quickly but carefully. Whether the leaders are defeated or the entire Islamic state is defeated I think it need to happen soon. Some of the ISIS members were once part of Al- Qaeda, but most are recruits. “But the ISIS of 2014 is reborn out of Sunni fears, and by the people the U.S. couldn’t manage to kill during the war — described to me as ‘a collection of killers very good at surviving’: the most battle-hardened al-Qaeda militants, a few embittered tribesmen, and some remnants of Saddam's Baathist military hoping to regain power” (McCants). Members of ISIS have been part of terrorist groups before so they know how to plan attacks and recruit new members. They have an effective recruitment processes and that’s why they have been able to grow so quickly. Some of the recruitment happens on social media pages but it has been changing to more word of mouth style. “A significant degree of recruitment currently occurs through friends and family in Syria, who are also paid on the basis of the number of persons they recruit and on whether the recruits subsequently marry” (Winsor). As more people start to support ISIS the more people they can recruit. When a recruiter gains one person’s support that person bring in another person and that allows ISIS to grow
