Before the modern era, the world was separated and disconnected. There was not much communication between countries that allowed a diffusion of cultures. Each part of the world was distinguishable. But as the world became more transparent, cultures collide to diversify the population. Globalization has played a significant role in human migration due to the statuses of countries, whether they are developed or not. As a result, culture, population, and labor has changed dramatically, resulting in policies being created in order to maintain order in the connected global world. The main problem of immigration is illegal immigration. This is common problem in the United States. “There were 11.1 million unauthorized immigrants in the U.S. in 2014, a total unchanged from 2009 and accounting for 3.5% of the nation’s population.” (Pew Research Center) Undocumented immigrants becomes an issue that the United States have to address and recently, President Trump has promised to enforce the United States’ immigrant policies. Moreover, human trafficking is a global issue that the United Nations has taken actions on. Human trafficking is defined as the illegal transportation of human to another country. Human trafficking is fueled by factors that was mentioned before such as, easy access to transportation and push and pull factors. “...those who are unable to pay for their passage are sometimes forced to work in sweat shops or to prostitute themselves in order to settle their debts with their traffickers.” (Globalization 101) The people that gets sent to different countries are usually not able to return to their country of origin and are forced to work in sweatshops with low wages. Continuing on global issues, terrorism has also been on the rise due to globalization. “After the Sept. 11th terrorist attacks against the US, the very discourse of international relations and global politics has been transformed.” (GlocalEye) Since September 11, 2001, more and more attacks have been organized against developed countries. Terrorism is motivated by the difference in beliefs between the western and eastern world. When beliefs collide, one side tend to become violent and this results in terrorism.
