Good afternoon! What country has a flag that contains the color green,white, and red with an eagle? Well if you didn’t know what country it is, let me tell you. It is Mexico! Did you know that the colors of their flag have a meaning? The green represents hope and victory, the white stands for the purity of Mexican ideals, and the red represent the blood shed by the nation’s heroes. Today I will speak to you about Mexico’s history, cuisine, celebrations. Let's first talk about the country’s history. The Mexican country was first populated by the Olmec people. They populated the country around 1200 b.c. It was later populated by the Mayans, Toltecs and the Aztecs. In the 1500’s the Spaniards arrived in Mexico. However, there arrival was not very friendly. They decided to take over the other groups ruling by destroying the Aztec capital and other parts. The Spaniards continue to rule Mexico until 1821. On September 16, 1810, Miguel Hidalgo y Costilla and Vicente Guerrero collaborated to obtain freedom from Spain. This led to their independence from Spain in 1821. …show more content…

Mexican cuisine is food that is very flavorful that incorporates the cooking of ancient Aztec and Mayan Indians. Each region in Mexico has their own type of food. Most Northern region enjoy meat dishes, and Southern regions enjoy dishes with vegetable and chicken. For example, southern regions would enjoy seafood with side of lettuce. Some seafood they enjoy are mojarras, lobster, oysters, and fish. However, mexican people enjoy eating tacos no matter what region they are located at.
