Architect Should Get Paid Better
Architect has a memorable journey, from being a student until being a professional. As we can see, architect is really popular with their habits: drawing, counting, and getting minimum amount of sleep. After taking a 4-year of study in university, architect should work under some people to gain some experience, and unfortunately this fresh graduate student often receives unreasonable salary after giving so much effort to do his/her work. Architect’s earning is nothing compared to the hard work he/she has to do, so I think architects should get paid better. There are some reasons why architects should get paid better.
First, architect could affect the way of living in their society. Architect could create a better place, because architect has responsibility in social aspect too. Architecture can affect society; they have a role to making a place more comfortable and livable, ”A house is a machine for living in” (Le Corbusier, November 2001). As architects, we want to believe that architecture affects the quality of life. Architects have a significant role in improving the well-being communities by being involved with non-profit organizations and can raise public awareness of critical social and environmental issues. The valuable impact in designing an organization or setting goals and implementation plans is one of architect’s critical thinking.
Second, with a very low pay,

Actually architect holds the highest position in their work-chain, because architect is someone who give design and understand about all the materials that could be used for the building itself. In order to understand about the design and every aspect that become relevant in their project, architects have to do the presentation to their co-workers. Architect’s co-workers have to obey the rules, and at the same time they have to follow where the designs would
“The architect’s role and their intellectual responsibility is to fight to maintain their vision and little bits get chopped off all the time, but if they’re only little bits, it’s not too bad.’’
When an architect is influenced they create. They make what they see in their mind. But people could always improve what they’ve already created. Homes at one point were only one story houses. But suddenly to someone’s mind they thought homes should be two stories or even three. Back in High School, most of my classmates wanted to become architects and they’d be asked how they were influenced to draw a blueprint like the one they had. Some would respond with “I saw this house that had this this and this and I really liked it so I put it into my home.” Meaning they would be inspired by a home that was already
When architects are put on this earth they have a dream; a dream to change the world in some way, shape, or form. If the architects receive fame and fortunes a result from their work, then that’s just a good perk. The project that they start to work on, integrates numerous elements in order to achieve the set goal. It should also be noted that every space is originally intended for a certain program, regardless of the space being flexible in use. The Paris Opera House professes, via its ceremonious and grand design, its function as a space suited for a gathering place of a “fashionable audience in an era of conspicuous wealth” (Kleiner 811) to enjoy art.
The success of architects is defined not so much by the problems they face as the act of their creative and practical responses.
True architects are needed to create architectural beauty and they do so by using “elements which are capable of affecting our senses, and of rewarding the desire of our eyes...the sight of them affects us immediately” (16). Le Corbusier’s says that we must standardize architecture with respect to function so that we can mass produce it until we perfect its aesthetic through competition and innovation. Le Corbusier believed that Architecture schools weren’t teaching students correctly and that engineers would be the ones who save architecture. Architecture is a thing of plastic emotion. “It should use elements capable of striking our senses, of satisfying our visual desires…arranging them in a way that the sight of them clearly affects
- When given a problem, other types of engineers will just solve that problem while architects must solve the problem and also have it be aesthetically pleasing.
Being an architect is a very important thing, you have a large amount of responsibility. You control a large aspect of someone’s life whether it is where they walk in a shopping centre or where they sleep and eat, and that is why it is very important to design for yourself and your client. You have to imagine the space as if you were there, you need it to be
Buildings reflect the values and ideas of society within periods. The role of architecture in shaping society and vice versa largely depends on the period in question and who or what affects first. The Enlightenment, and the subsequent period the Post-Enlightenment, reflect the biggest change for current ideas regarding architecture and society and current theories. At the same time, individual identities and understanding of society, progress and truth all follow a similar evolving path. It is during this dramatic shift in thinking that the role of architecture to society and the idea of progress and truth becomes a more complex relationship. How this relationship works and its implications is based on the theory that there is a direct link between the two. One cannot develop without the other. Who leads whom and to what extent they influence each other is evident in architectural trends and pioneering works by architects such as Robert Venturi, Frank Gehry amongst others.
Architectural engineers help plan how a building is constructed so that it will look and function the way it was designed. Their work includes preparing building design and construction documents, cost estimating and construction-related projects. Architectural engineers should be creative, inquisitive, analytical, and detail-oriented. They should be able to work as part of a team and be able to communicate well, both orally and in writing.
Times have changed since days of Vitruvius, the inevitable advancement in technology, rapid global population increase and an ever developing awareness of the sustainability of our environment have forced the architect into different positions in the project team Thus it can be said that the external forces that shape the environment that an architect works in does so by manipulating the relationship between the skills required to practice; the scope of expertise and the depth of knowledge. Fig. 3 indicates a diagrammatic timeline representing the changing roles of the architect over the various time periods with respect to the scope and depth of
Every person with a job, no matter what occupation, makes an impact on society in some way, shape, or form. Some people leave their legacy by defending people in court, some saving lives in a hospital, and others planning and building works of construction. These planners have a large-scale effect on everybody in society and have an eye for detail, as well as enjoy using mathematics to ensure proper construction. That is why I have chosen architecture to be my career. An architect is a person who designs buildings and supervises their construction. A broader view of an architect is a person who is responsible for inventing or realizing a particular idea or project. Architecture varies from the pillars of the Greek Parthenon, to peoples’ homes. I often find myself marveling over the design of large-scale building projects such as the skyscrapers of New York City. Most of these buildings belong to a myriad of well-known companies such as Chase and Toshiba. That is why I have particularly chosen to become a commercial architect.
With the help of architectural engineers, our world has become very civilized and advanced over the past decades. Like all other engineers, architectural engineers use logic and creativity to solve problems. They come up with effective designs to assist people in their everyday tasks. In our daily lives we are surrounded by buildings. Places that were once a dessert are turned into cities that now hold amazing buildings. Houses, schools, shopping centers, offices, apartments, airports, etc. are very essential in our society. These buildings do not only please the eye, but they also provide us with shelter and are made to withstand hurricanes, earthquakes, snow storms, and strong winds. Would these buildings still function efficiently and provide us with a stable shelter if it were not for architectural engineers? There are different engineers with each their own expertise, but for buildings in particular, architectural engineers are needed. Architectural engineering, also known as building engineering, is an interdisciplinary program that integrates important knowledge from different disciplines such as civil engineering, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering , architecture, physics, chemistry, biology, and economics (“Building Engineering”). An architectural engineering professional has to master all the different disciplines because the design of building systems often requires the application of the disciplines. Architectural engineers are important in today’s society because they possess the knowledge and qualifications to work on complex buildings, lead project teams, and most importantly, to provide us with a safe environment.
The profession of architecture, the possible career as an architect, taking steps to gain a position and education as well as the set growth and prospects of this profession. According to Lee W. Waldrep (2010), author of the book Becoming a Architect “A Guide to Careers in Design, an architect is an imaginative person who designs a wide range of structures for buildings”(p. 2). These structures not only have to be aesthetically pleasing, but must also meet the safety requirements. Architects have to compete with other architects to attract customers by presenting designs. This process is generally based on building a reputation as an architect. Due to the nature and the amount of time devoted to designing, architects
Behind every architectural work there is an architect, whether the architect is one man or woman, a small group, or an entire people. The structure created by any of these architects conveys a message about the architect: their culture, their identity, their struggles. Because of the human element architects offer to their work not just a building is made, but a work of art, a symbol of a people, a representation, is also created.
The generally accepted role and work of an architect is to strive to satisfy the aspirations of a client for building projects employing design and aesthetic principles to meet all functional, financial and technical requirements; that
