The experience of being in the boat with his teammates was what finally allowed Joe to heal and become home again. After years of struggle Joe finally found breakthrough. To be neglected from your family can be big down fall in a person’s life especially if you have to fend for yourself at a young age. It is also important to be bold and to always have the ability to be bold and speak up. Johnny and Chuck told a bold step and told the newspaper reporters that him and his boys would win the coming games. To qualify for the Olympics is a big win for anybody who does regardless of which country you represent. We need to be pushful in life to be able to get what we want. Being in a country during great depression can be very challenging; desires to be in the Olympics can be ruined. I would believe I should have to struggle in order to gain a living rather than think of the Olympics. They are many talented people out there who have the ability to be famous at a sport but lose hope due to their current situation. Joe and the boys didn’t give after hearing they had to pay for their own trip to participate in the 1935 Olympics. Hearing I had to pay for my own to trip to represent my country especially during a repression would have demoralized me. Reading this reminds me of what can happen when everyone quite literally pulls
