I am very happy today, and in fact have been for the last few days. When I went to work all of my co-workers commented on my smile and the joy that was emanating from me. Some of them thought ‘new boyfriend’ while others asked if I had won the lottery. As much as I wish either of those were true, they weren’t. The fact is, I finally was able to enjoy myself and go swimming, something I haven’t done in i don’t know how many years. Now you may think that it is a trivial thing, but when you have a full head of hair like I do, well it is not trivial at all. You see in my family and in my culture it is a sign of beauty and wealth for the women to grow and wear their hang long, and I mean very long, like past the shoulders going towards the buttocks. Anyway a few weeks ago one of my cousins told me about a swim cap that she used on her vacation to Baja California. Now my cousin has much more hair than I do so I had to see this swim cap. And guess what, it is all that and more. I mean getting my hair into wasn't a problem. It was a godsend. It had been years since i was able to truly enjoy myself at the beach or in the pool.
