If you have ever read The Great Gatsby does it feel like Nick Carraway is the only cool, calm, and collective one? This novel titled The Great Gatsby was written by F. Scott Fitzgerald, taken set in the 1920’s was full of trait filled characters such as Nick Carraway. When creating this character analysis Nick Carraway showed to be quite a “green” type of character. Carraway displayed such traits like enjoyment of the big picture process and work being his fun or even the value of justice meaning investigative type of person. Part of being a “green” character so to speak would include multiple trait one being the enjoyment of the big picture process. Though there are many examples in the novel the most obvious or most out there would be the rekindling between Daisy and Gatsby with Nick Carraway being involved with the set up. There was a journal kept by Nick to discover who Gatsby was before he ever formally met Jay Gatsby. The journal consisted of rumors people have said throughout the party in chapter three , also first hand accounts from Jay Gatsby himself, even his actions he's witness after the fact. He eventually meet gatsby at the party trying to figure him out even setting up a meeting but Gatsby says “ I thought you knew old sport, I'm afraid I'm not a very good host” Though evidence was not substantially shown for investigative skills it this still provides evidence to the analysis that Nick Carraway is a “green” character. Nick Carraway throughout the Great Gatsby has shown that through such traits like work as play , some investigative skills, even having the ability to see a bigger picture shows the these traits show Nick Carraway to be a “green”
