Brainy, Brave, and a Best Friend
Would you die to protect your best friend? Well, Mercutio did. He died for his friend Romeo, one of the two main characters of Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare. Mercutio is just a supporting character, but he has many clear traits about him. Mercutio is witty, brave, and a true friend.
Mercutio is a very witty character. Towards the beginning of the play Romeo, Mercutio, and Benvolio all go to the Capulet’s dance. Romeo gets nervous because of a dream he had and Mercutio responds by saying, “O, then I see Queen Mab hath been with you” (1.4.53). He continues telling Romeo about how dreams mean nothing. This shows that he is witty because he can tell a whole speech about how dreams do not mean anything.
