Macbeth is a tragedy written by William Shakespeare about a strong soldier who is deceived by his wife-Lady Macbeth- to kill his leader King Duncan to become King of Scotland. In the Holy Bible, in John 13:18-30 a man is first mentioned to us by the name of Judas. Judas was considered a man of faith. Judas was one of Jesus’s twelve disciples who traded Jesus into the Roman soldiers’ for 30 pieces of silver. Macbeth and Judas both were considered strong, worthy men. However, both was deceived to cause themselves tragedy. Macbeth and Judas were both men of character and trustworthiness. Macbeth and Judas both had choices to perform their duties to the fullest but chose the easy way out doomed by sin. In Macbeth’s and Judas’s story both have elements of prophecy. In Judas case, Jesus had predicted his his own betrayal by a disciple, which happened to become Judas. In Macbeth, his rise and downfall were predicted by the three witches prophecies. Both of these men’s character flaws caused their downfall. King Duncan is considered a loyal leader. King Duncan chose soldiers to be his loyal comrades and to serve him in partnership as he reigns over Scotland as king. Macbeth being one of those loyal comrades betrayed King Duncan. Satan used his own “honey words” to cause Judas to sin against the man that has always been there for him. Judas was betrayed by his own human thoughts to think that betraying his royal leader -Jesus- over to the Roman soldiers. Jesus had chosen Judas to be his disciple. Jesus had chosen to use Judas to move people to follow Him and support Him. Judas was foolish enough- like Macbeth- to believe that through sin he could achieve his own self-greed for the 30 pieces of
