Lee Harvey Oswald was assassinated on November 24th, 1963, in Dallas, Texas. He was shot by a man named Jack Ruby during his transportation to the Dallas county jail. This incident took place two days after Lee Harvey Oswald murdered John F. Kennedy. (Knight 3) This was a shock to America. Over the span of 48 hours, the President of the United States and his notorious assassin were gunned down in the midst of the media. These mysterious events led to multiple conspiracy theories about the reasoning behind them. Of course, everyone in the country, astonished and panicked, believed that the death of Oswald was completely inevitable. Jack Ruby most likely felt similar feelings. According to the New York Times, Ruby was an admirer of the Kennedy family. Many people believe that he must have taken the President's death roughly and acted purely on instincts. (Hill) After the shots, Ruby stated that, “He had shot Oswald to spare Jacqueline Kennedy from having to testify at Oswald’s trial.” (Wallenfeldt) However, considering Ruby’s relationship as a nightclub owner, he probably made frequent contact with associates of the infamous Mafia in Texas. There is immense concern towards this topic because it brings up the possibility that the Mafia had something to do with Kennedy’s death. Perhaps, Lee Harvey Oswald was part of the Mafia and his job was to assassinate Kennedy. Once the hit was completed, Jack Ruby was then ordered to kill Oswald to prevent the spread of secret knowledge.
