How Have Cell Phones Changed People Socially?

Cell phones have changed teens and even adults. People text more than they talk to others face to face. Without texting and other technology, people would be more social. Having cellphones completely changed everyone’s social life. Some people might not believe that before cell phones, families had to send letters back and forth to one another. The majority of people are not as social as they used to be. Texting has changed the way people in the world communicate, without phones, people would be more social. When teenagers hang out with friends or at a family event, they are probably sitting on their phone, texting, emailing, or tweeting. “I would tell teens that there is a time and place for texting and there is a time when they need to have a conversation face to face.” (Dempster) “The average teen spends about four hours a day on a cell phone or some invention.” (Gonyou) The way people use technology has changed over the last year. Technology gets better every year; therefore teens and adults are buying and playing with the newest update. In the world today everyone has a cell phone or any kind of technology. Communication has been changed at once, because people do not talk face to face as much as they do talking on their cell phones or on the computer. Can you imagine not being able to check Twitter, Facebook, or messages for a week? People would feel lost. (Stewart) Society is at once reliant on cell phones and other technology. Cell phones have impacted lives, even children eight years youthful, own the newest phone out. People text more than anything, especially during school because teens are probably texting or tweeting about other students or teachers. When teens get grounded and they get their cell phone taken awa... ... middle of paper ... ... media, some teens or adults do not even think about spelling out a word or even spelling it correctly. Instead of spelling out ‘are’ people use ‘r,’ instead of spelling out ‘you’ people use ‘u.’ People say it is easier. Some students do not use capitalization or punctuation. As some students use shorthand writing, they do not want to write on paper properly. Some teens carry over texting habits to writing skills on paper. People as a whole need to learn technological etiquette, including ways to be more respectful to everyone.
