Thousands of people fall victim to a game where the opponent is the guaranteed winner ninety nine percent of the time. This game is known as gambling and has many negative effects on society. Many people enjoy gambling once in a while, but many people also enjoy gambling too much, to the point that they have gone bankrupt and formed a horrible addiction. Gambling can be known to bring excitement, government revenue and lower taxation on citizens. Something that is not worth hurting peoples lives by causing financial harm, emotional harm, social harm and many other negative effects on society. A law must be set to limit the amount of gambling allowed to once a month. With this law enacted people can enjoy the excitement and tax benefits that gambling can bring, without being able to repetitively return to lose more money and form a serious addiction.

There are many types of gambling harm that can seriously affect people in a negative way. These main types are social harm, psychological harm, financial harm, and legal harm. An activity with so many types of negative effects must be regulated. …show more content…

For example, The player experiences a rush of excitement and euphoria as he continues to put quarters into the slot machine that has been programmed to give a losing outcome almost every time. This rush that the player experiences covers up the fact that the player may have just gambled away their mortgage payment with nothing to show for it, and left to answer to their family as to why they cannot afford their bills this month which in the end has caused financial and social harm to their family and themselves, all because of an addiction to the feeling of gambling. If a law was enacted to limit gambling to once a month I feel that these problems would slowly disappear and give people the self control to know when its time to stop
