How did the United States Constitution protect us from tyranny? In the United states our government was beginning to form. There was a Federal (central) government and the state government. One was wanting to control the whole us and the other wanted every state to have their own power. So, tyranny is where all power is in the same hands weather of one, a few, or many. There were many things that helped guard against tyranny but Federalism, separation of powers, the constitution and the state compromise played the biggest role.

Federalism was one of the bigger things that helped guard us from tyranny. The total united states government was split between two groups the central and the state government. the federal (central) government did not have all the power but when the big decisions were made. Within the whole split government the federal government had to regulate trade, conduct foreign relations, provide an army and navy, declare war, print and coin money, set up post offices, and make immigration laws. …show more content…

James Madison states “The accumulation of all powers, legislative, executive, and judiciary, in the same hands, whether of one, a few, or many, and whether hereditary, self-appointed, or elective, may be justly pronounced the very definition of tyranny..." As it states in his quote, the three branches of government works together to form the central government and fight against tyranny.
