Do you wonder of all the people that changed and made an effect on discrimination and how they affected how we live today? Many common people such as Jackie Robinson, Gies and Ida B. Wells had many encounters with discrimination, but made a change. How Jackie Robinson changed Baseball, Women who helped Anne Frank died at 100, The story of Ida B. Wells acted heroically because she was writing in what she believed in, even if it was very dangerous. She pursued to write and inform people that what they do is wrong and they deserve justice for all the racism and discrimination she and others among her go through. In the text it says “The night before, a mob of white men had seized three black grocery store owners, dragged them down to the railroad tracks, and shot them to death. One of the store owners, Thomas Moss, had begged for his life for the sake of his wife, daughter, and unborn child. When he realized he was going to die, he said, “Tell my people to go West—there is no justice for them here.” (Shannon Moreau 1999) This shows how many people, one being Ida’s close friend Thomas, lost their life due to racism. She felt so heartbroken to hear the news and wanted to go to Thomas's funeral to show some respect for his death, until she had a bad encounter on her way there. In the text it states “ “I have a first class ticket,” Ida replied.” This is my rightful seat.” The conductor disappeared. A few minutes later he returned with two baggage clerks. The three men dragged ida from her seat while the white passengers clapped. Ida refused to go into the smoking car, instead she got off the train at the next station”(Shannon Moreau 1999) While she was a the train station she wasn’t allowed to sit on her rightful seat that caused her to be late to Thomas’s funeral, and she felt furious and disrespected for what
