Nazi Germany was a brutal place to live. It was a place of destruction. Somewhere where people were killed because of their beliefs and values. This was all because of the views of one group of people, The Nationalist Socialist German Workers’ Party. The Nazis used propaganda and brainwashing techniques, created laws surrounding Jewish people and their freedoms and eventually restricted them to death and labour camps.

Hitler and the Nazis had very strong views. They believed that there was a ‘superior race’. The Aryan race consisted almost completely of tall blond haired, blue eyed people and that anyone outside of that description didn’t deserve to live. This was quite ironic as Hitler and a lot of his men didn’t have blue eyes or blond hair. Interracial marriages between Jews and non-Jewish people were forbidden. Jewish people couldn’t have jobs except for those in labour camps and if they were out in public they had to wear their Star of David armband or badge so they could be recognised as a Jewish person. These laws eventually restricted thousands of Jewish people to ghettos placed throughout Germany and Poland. Some ghettos lasted only a few days while others were around for up to 3 years. The conditions inside the ghettos were terrible. Families were forced to live in tiny apartments with everyone sharing one bedroom. Food was scarce and many people were barely eating in order to keep children fed or simply because they could afford to eat.
