Murphy 5 Elizabeth was also a huge contributor to theater during the Renaissance. She had a love for theater, and that love spread throughout the country. Drama prospered during her rule. The first theaters in England were built while she was in the kingdom. The theaters usually had an attendance of about 15,000 people each week. Shakespeare’s fame is indebted to the Queen. They were friends and she was one of the reasons that his plays became famous. It is thought that they also had a romantic relationship, and that the play Midsummer’s Night Dream was written about her, as well. He performed at many royal functions and parties for royalty. That was how they first met; Robert Dudley introduced the two at a royal festival where Shakespeare was performing a play...The rest is history. Another artistic thing that she affected was fashion.
