• What does your client do and why does it exist?
Eugene Mission is a “wellness shelter” for the homeless. They offer bare necessities to homeless. Beside material supply, my client also focuses on the homeless’ spiritual needs. They provide the gospel message of Jesus Christ, and restoration to those in need. They believed that they do these things with an abundance of God’s love and their goal is to provide their guest with solutions for long-term living.
• History of the organization
The original Eugene Mission operated a small mission on the second floor of an old store in Eugene’s downtown in 1950. They served meals to hungry and traveling men. The Eugene City Council has already discussed the emergency on the homelessness issue in Oregon. Our client ministry and social service staff work on connecting guests with whatever community services they need, including but not limited to: providing help for medical health, dental health, mental health, addiction service. Our client helps the government to improve the homeless issue.
Secondly, they can help reduce government spending since all of their funding comes from donations provided by individuals, businesses, and churches. Our client does not take government support because they want the freedom to share the good news of the Christian message with their guests. Furthermore, the budget proposal to help the homeless was 4.7 billion dollars in 2013.
Thirdly, they provide a mass of job positions and internship opportunities. It can reduce unemployment rate of the United States. Furthermore, they can help those people in need to regain self-confidence and enjoy their
