Everyone has experienced the difficulties of going to an actual movie theater. Finding the right seat, waiting in line and overpaying for movie snacks are all just a part of the typical movie experience. If you want to actually enjoy watching the movie, you need to create a home theater system. While a move theater setup can cost thousands of dollars if you pay someone else, you can save significantly by creating the home theater yourself.
Pick the Right Location
The first step in creating a home theater is to find the right space. Ideally, a home theater should span about 20 feet by 13 feet. It should be set off from the rest of the house or the main rooms so that everyone else is not disturbed by the loud noises. Often, home theaters are set up off of the family rooms or in a spare bedroom.
Framing and Insulating the Theater
For the best experience, the next step is to insulate the room. R30 insulation will help to insulate the sound from the movie from disturbing the rest of the house. The

For the average home theater, the best screen size is about 110 to 120 inches. You can also frame the screen with proscenium panels to hide the center, left and right speakers. The other speakers can be camouflaged behind acoustic, artistic panels. Next, connect the speakers and projector to the equipment hub.
Choose the Seating for Your Home Theater
If you want a typical movie theater appearance, you may want to use seats that match a theater. You can purchase vintage seats from old-fashioned theaters, or you can upgrade with leather recliners. Theater seating is available in a number of styles and price ranges, so the type that you choose is entirely up to your budget and personal tastes. Often, home theaters use two rows of four seats. On the back row, you can elevate the seats using a pre-built platform for better viewing.
Selecting the Right Materials and Sound
People have dreams of what they want to do or accomplish in life, but usually musical theatre is just pushed into the non-realistic void. It isn’t a dream for me. In the past four years, musical theatre has been clarified as my reality. Musical theatre has been the only thing I have seen myself wanting to do. My first love was The Phantom of the Opera, seeing how I watched it almost every day and it was one of the first shows I saw. Of course, I started doing all of those cute shows in middle school and making a huge deal about it to my family and friends, but I have never felt so passionate about something. The minute I get up on that stage I throw away Riley for two and a half hours and it’s the most amazing feeling! Being able to tell a story
The Globe Theater Architecture based on the structures similar to The Coliseum in Ancient Rome. Architecture on a grand size would house a capacity between 1500 to 3000 people. Classic Greek and Romans admired by the Elizabethans and sometimes great columns included the architecture. The Globe Theater design reflected the elements of Roman or Greek classical plays. It had supposed that the Globe Theater had an octagonal shaped building. The design of The Globe Theater included the features of the existing sport rings such as the Bear Garden, which became used with the addition of a fixed stage. A thatched roof composed with either straw or reeds. Packages of straw or reeds piled on top of the roof. The bundles had circumference between 24 to 27 inches and range from three to seven feet long. (2-3)
"The arts of the western world have been largely dominated by the artistic standards established by the Greeks of the classical period" (Spreloosel 86). It is from the Greek word theatron, meaning a place for sitting, that we get our word theater. According to James Butler, "The Greeks were the first people to erect special structures to bring audiences and theatrical performers together" (27). "The theaters were normally located near a populated area at the bottom of or cut out of a carefully selected, sloping hillside overlooking a seascape, a plain, or a city" (Butler 30). "They eventually with few exceptions consisted of three distinct parts: theatron (viewing place) for spectators, orchestra (dancing place) where the chorus and actors performed; and a later addition, a skene (scene building), which provided a scenic backing" (Butler 30).
The stage was in proscenium form so it allowed most audience members to have the same amount of viewing as others throughout the theater. Due to the theatre space being so small and intimate, it created the relevant atmosphere of everything on stage happening to be small.
Surround Sound which was introduced by Dolby Laboratories Inc to position sound around the audience so that the effects within movies would make them feel as though they were really there. The use of directional sound from different points in the room according to their depth, sharpness and clarity was the main goal. Starting off from a standard called Dolby Stereo, two separate channels were introduced, both left and right, so that other speakers could in turn double-up to provide a multitude of left and right channels all around the audience. The input of a effects channel (later called Surround channel) was implemented so that a sense of ambience and spatiality could be experienced from the audience. This surround channel was positioned behind and to the left and right of the audience provided the sound depth that the audio engineers were looking for.
Kabuki Theater is quite different when compared to other types of theater. Its distinctive yet traditional traits are what make it so different. It is also a very traditional form of theater. Kabuki Theater in the 14th century was largely influenced by the events happening in Japan, is shown thrown the play Migawari Zazen.
First, the Globe Theater’s structure doesn’t prohibit the audience to see what’s going on at all times. Richard Burbage stated, “This building will allow you to never miss a moment of a play for your enjoyment. You would never be disappointed” (York 197-207). This statement makes the theater a very exciting place to be. The Globe Theater’s structure allows the audience to have a great for them and for their families. Therefore, the formation of the Globe Theater is very unique because the audience would be able to enjoy themselves at all times. Second, Shakespeare made fascinating memories in the Globe Theater. The Globe Theater was home to the majority of Shakespeare’s plays and sonnets. His most famous plays, Romeo & Juliet and Macbeth, were performed in the theater. Approximately 200,000 people were in attendance for those plays. That number really says something for the theater. It says that it is capable of holding a num...
When a person gets into a car, one of the first things they do is turn on the radio. Some people like the volume turned down real low and others like myself want loud blaring music. There are several steps to turn a factory sound system into a surround sound theatre.
Theatre has heavily evolved over the past 100 years, particularly Musical Theatre- a subgenre of theatre in which the storyline is conveyed relying on songs and lyrics rather than dialogue. From its origination in Athens, musical theatre has spread across the world and is a popular form of entertainment today. This essay will discuss the evolution and change of musical theatre from 1980-2016, primarily focusing on Broadway (New York) and the West End (London). It will consider in depth, the time periods of: The 1980s: “Brit Hits”- the influence of European mega musicals, the 1990s: “The downfall of musicals”- what failed and what redeemed, and the 2000s/2010s: “The Resurgence of musicals”- including the rise of pop and movie musicals. Many cultural enthusiasts, archaeologists, and architects have a common interest in theatre and its origins. People from a few decades back have located the remaining of the oldest theatres in Greece, England, France and some parts of minor Asia. Theatre was a part of people’s lives as it was one of the few sources of entertainment, and it was originated from when people collectively sit in a gathering and listen to a storyteller. There were performances done by different people present at that moment. Later on, this activity kept improving and innovating, and in the result, many theaters for entertaining purposes were built by emperors who ruled the countries or kingdom in those days. The design of these theatres
The evolution of theatre conventions began with highly presentational Greek productions and changed through the Medieval and Elizabethan ages to the current conventions. Greek conventions included performances done on a mostly bare stage, the use of internal stage directions to indicate location, episodic play structure, and a chorus that served multiple functions including setting the overall mood, commenting on or explaining the action, and creating reflection intervals. Other conventions included an all-male cast, the “Three Actor Rule,” the presence of a tragic hero, and the plays typically served the purpose of teaching the public or making a political statement. Many of these conventions evolved to adapt to the time period of the performances.
Theatre as we know it now was born more than two thousand years ago and has gone through many streams until it reached the current modernity. Among these streams is the avant-garde theatre. This theatre achieved a break in the traditional theatre and became the forefront of a new experimental theatre. Therefore it is necessary to ask how this theatre started, what impact it had on society and if this type of theatre is still common in our modern era.
The room featured eight television sets, three of them nearly theatre size, with no two
For as long as humankind exists, theatre will always take on an important function within its cultures. Through theatre, a culture expresses itself, reflects its society, and displays its individuality. It invites people to experience other cultures.
My experience watching a live theatre performance on stage was a fascinating one, most especially since it was my first time. I attended a staged performance of “The History Boys” in a small theatre called “The Little Theatre of Alexandria” at 8:00 pm on Wednesday June 8, 2016 in Alexandria, Virginia. The overall production of the play was a resounding experience for me particularly the performance of the actors and the design of the scene made the play seem real.
