Home schooling vs. Public Schooling
Constant debate exists over whether or not homeschooling works and, if it does work, how it compares to public school. More parents should consider homeschooling their children rather than sending them to public school because of family values, religious views, refined social skills, and higher educational opportunities.
With social and academic activities consuming time and the intense pressures to excel in social cliques being reason for the downgrading of family relationships, public school presents an obstacle for family relationships. In reality, the best way to get along with family is being with them for a substantial amount of time. With more spare and flexible time and family focus, homeschooling supplies bright rewards in this area, are the beliefs of authors Amy and Frank Vahid. It is author Lisa Rivero’s understanding that since homeschooling parents devote more of the day to their kids, homeschooling is severe parenting. Even if the parents and children initially have a healthy connection, the added time presents an opportunity to add to that connection as well as appreciate being around one another more. It will most likely lead to having to confront some challenging problems that ordinarily would not be crossed since they would normally come up in the classroom. Homeschooling parents tend to be more engaged in their kid’s social lives than parents that have their kids in school. Homeschooling will not miraculously repair pitiful parent-child connections. Although it will offer a precious opportunity to better your talent as a parent as well as design the connection you desire to have with your kids. Homeschooling is becoming more popular in today’s society then before. Homeschooling is teaching school subjects to one’s children at home (Merriam-Webster Dictionary). But is homeschooling the best way to educate children? Homeschooling can bring more positive outcomes versus public or private schooling. This is because homeschooling can bring many benefits such as family orientation, no worries about bullies, less exposure to bad influences like drugs. Also it has a good success rate, adaptable cost, and flexibility. Homeschooling will keep increasing year by year. According to Dr. Brian D. Ray about 2% to 8% per annum was the growth over the past few years. For these and many more reasons is why parents choose to home school their children.
Homeschooling is becoming a huge trend across America. It does have its downsides to it, just like any other education. Many parents have to worry about the right way of letting their child have socialization. Without proper socialization, a child can lack proper social skills. Many parents fear the temptations public school can provide, so they homeschool their children to bring them up with holy and moral attitudes. No parent wants their child to hang around other children who abuse drugs, alcohol, or can misguide their children down a wrong path. With homeschooling, parents can monitor whom their children socialize with and for how long. Fearing to not have any socialization at all is where parents can go wrong.
Home schooling should not be the first option to teach your children because it contributes to the lack of interaction, which leads to communication issues that are needed for children. Many opinions are often formed against the thought of a child being home schooled versus a public or private school. This subject has been argued many times in the past and even today. There are many different outlooks on this situation. Several believe that with home schooling, children are learning more than those that attend a school. They also miss out on a lot of things such as the lack of communication skills and the learning method that is used in a college setting. Homeschooling is great for parents who want to teach their children a specific curriculum or provide biblical foundations for their children. Homeschooling gives parents the opportunities to work at their own pace and build a strong relationship with their child. Students who are homeschool also don’t have to undergo peer pressures or worry about not fitting in or being bullied. However, with every good thing there are also negatives about homeschooling. Students who are homeschools are not as sociable, they don’t get to participate in school sports, or attend school events like student who attend public school. Parents also have to be fully prepared and qualified to homeschool their children if they want to prepare them for college. In contrast to the positive aspects, homeschooled children may not have the opportunties to form meaningful bonds with others and may suffer socially compared to those who attend public schools (middleschool.net). Education is an amazing opportunity, no matter how one receives it. Since the beginning of the public-school system, homeschooling had become a dwindling sight, until the last 20 years or so. The stigma surrounding homeschooling is one that paints parents as intolerant and children as awkward and anti-social. Many are skeptic about homeschooling and want their children to experience life outside of the home through public or private school. While this is completely understandable, could homeschooling offer a better education and more future success than public schooling? Homeschooling produces better test scores and is more academically effective than public schooling.
Growing up around kids who have only been home schooled and hasn’t ever been to a public school before, I have noticed glaring problems. When socializing with others, they struggle, and need their parents to ask questions for them. They don’t have a set of standards, and get taught what their parents want to teach. They don’t have extracurricular activities that mold them for the future. When it comes to structure there isn’t any, they do what they want when they want. Their parents aren’t teachers, and just teach them what they want to teach them. Finally they don’t get certain benefits offered by all public schools. All these reasons and many more, is why I think Public schooling can be a better educational system than homeschooling.
It is important to note that it is a right for the children to have a quality education. In this aspect, reasonable learning environments are a critical factor contributing to children education. All parents want their children to have an access to quality and better education. In the quest for such, parents always seek learning environments with competent teachers and better learning facilities. It is therefore, common to see parents always having a choice to make between taking their children to public schools, private school or have the children taught at home. Different opinion about home schooling and public school has recently been a subject of contention. Either way, the two forms of learning should offer the learning child with a better education. Nevertheless, each of the two forms of learning environments should be supported by valid arguments as discussed below.
Studies have shown year after year that homeschooled students consistently perform just as well as (or in many cases better than) traditionally schooled students on standardized academic exams. But very rarely does anyone ask why this is, or what caused the student to do so well, because they are usually too concerned with questions about the student’s social life or if they would be able to handle the transition into college. Therefore, my thesis statement is: Homeschooled students often achieve higher academic success and are more active in their communities than traditionally schooled students, due to a personalized approach to learning that emphasizes individuality. My research paper will debunk some popular myths about homeschooling, and give the real reasons why homeschoolers are so successful.
Although home schooling may benefit some students, it is clearly not right for every student. Home schooling has its advantages and disadvantages and its success is not always guaranteed. In some respects home schooling may be cost efficient, but is it really worth it especially since it hampers a child's socialization process.

There are a growing number of homeschooled students and it appears homeschooling is successful. Most parents homeschool because of the environment, both academic and moral. The states need to insure all children are being educated. However, the requirements vary by state. Michigan is the most liberal, not even requiring homeschoolers to report to the state. The internet has expanded the types of homeschooling. Combined with the availability of the public school system for specialized programs, homeschooling is now a more popular option. Homeschooling will continue to be a growing area.
One might ask why some parents decide to home school their children rather than send them to public school to receive a traditional public education. In his article, “What Have We Learned About Homeschooling,” Eric Isenberg offers data which says, “Families choose to homeschool their children for both academic and religious reasons” (407). Even so, most people claim that public school offers the perfect environment for learning and developing. They argue
As the population in public schools increase, the problems in these schools are also on the rise. These changes are leasing to the way parents are schooling their children. Many parents are leaning towards homeschooling as a solution to this problem. This increase in homeschooling can be directly related to an increase in school violence, the offering of a lack luster curriculum, and lack of student teacher interaction.
