To recapitulate, Chris Burden has created both of these works to stir up the public opinion regarding violence in America, or as well as the world. In both Shoot and LAPD Uniforms, have to do with violence, force and power. I believe that Burden’s work involving the uniforms stirs up more of a current topic in today’s society regarding racial profiling, due to the massive population boom of minorities. The LAPD Uniforms had much more of a profound impact on me, being a minority and all. Lots of police officers today, much like in the past, use racial profiling to further their investigations, for they believe that the past crimes created have some sort of correlation to a persons race. Furthermore, art is and will always be subjective, for the question of “what” is not as profound as to understanding how or why.
After reading this article so many thoughts go through my head. Officers are humans just like an individual who does not wear that uniform. Police officers go duty each and everyday not knowing what to expect and worried about if they are going to make it back home to their families. Which raises a question; Criminal masterminds exists, but do they actually enjoy the risk of theft, and disobeying the common law? To dive into such a question, we can’t just consider art theft. Body worn cameras were adopted due to the alleged police brutality cases: for instance, the case of Michael Brown, an African-American who was shot and killed by a police officer in Ferguson, Missouri, on August 2014, Eric Garner died as a result of being put in a chokehold by a New York police officer, and John Crawford, shot and killed by a police officer at a Walmart in Beavercreek, Ohio.

With producing reality shows comes producing inaccuracies in portrayals in order to reach as many viewers and gain as high ratings as possible every week with each new episode. Every day life is boring, yet people tend to be attracted to the relatable shows that portray real life in eccentric ways – ways that they believe could be imitated by the average person. In many cases, these shows could remain harmless, as it is entertainment. No matter how crude or erroneous, it is just television. However, what happens when these sources of amusement actually start being damaging? Research has shown that crime shows like the ever popular CSI: Crime Scene Investigation have started becoming significantly detrimental to criminal cases, influencing a juror's perception of what should realistically be going on with acquittal rates and wrongful convictions, but researchers have also started to find a rising fault in the prosecution, using this false perception to their advantage.

Crime is everywhere and it takes a special group or team of people to stop it, or make crime less tempting to do. The main job of police and security officers is to maintain justice, order and peace. In order to keep peace police officers must go through an academy that will prepare them for most situations that they will have to face later on in their career. Some situations require a more intense way to solve a problem such as using force or putting the perpetrator in fear so they will give in to what the police are asking. In some cases the peretrator(s) are too volatile or risky for the basic trained police officer, so the swat team must be used. The swat team unit or “special weapons and tactics” is a higher trained police force. It is a select group of officers that have been through more training and more experience than the average cop. Without the police or security civilians may not feel as safe as they do now when they are walking in the streets or going to a public event. For the people who want to be part of such a unit and are willing to put people before themselves will need to know what it takes to be a police officer.
