The Bible is a collection of stories, given by the Christian Church as a reminder of God, and a guideline for their beliefs. The Bible was not written just by God, it was also written by many different authors.
History of the old testament in the bible The Old Testament is first of two sections of the Holy Bible. The Old Testament has the holy writings of the Jews. The Old Testament was written over the era of 1000 B.C. to 100 B.C. The Old Testament contains stories of events that happened several centuries previous and had been passed on from generation to generation in oral usage. The Old Testament was originally written in the Hebrew with a little section written in Aramaic language. There was no list of recognized books of Jewish scripture until 100 A.D. when Jewish rabbis reviewed their Scripture and made an official canon of Judaism, declining books not …show more content…

The New Testament was written in the Greek language over the era of 50 to 120 A.D. The New Testament was not stories that were originally for the Holy Bible; nevertheless they were read at church for being a good person and for their faith.
The gathering of books of the New Testament was arisen in the end of the second century, A.D. The church influential established books they believed were built on eyewitness versions of the events we read today, while discarding many Christian texts.
The New Testament
The New Testament shows Jesus's birth his life, death and resurrection. Jesus was born 6 and 4 B.C. in Bethlehem. He was intended to accomplish the role of Christ. Christ lived a normal life for 30 years, but then beginning His ministry among the Jews.
Jesus walked from town to town, healing the sick and speaking about the new kingdom of God. He educated that God's new kingdom is spiritual and that is among the faithful. Jesus said He will come again someday to make God's kingdom

In the book Reading the Old Testament: an Introduction, the author Lawrence Boadt presents us with a few different authors of the Old Testament that used different names for God and had a unique insight into the texts. These four sources are titled P for priests, E for Elohim, J for Jehovah, and Y for Yahweh (95). These four unique sources help us realize that there is more than one author of the Pentateuch. These authors took the text and adapted for their culture. This independent source is used by scholars to help gain insight into what was behind the texts of the bible so we are not left with an incomplete picture of what went into the creation of the bible. Julius Wellhausen used these four sources to publish a book to able us to better understand the sources and to give it credibility with the Protestant scholars at the time (Boadt 94). These sources that is independent of the bible as in the DVD Who Wrote the Bible? and the Nova website aide in shedding light on the history that surrounded the writers who wrote the text and what inspired them to write it in the first place. The DVD shows the discovery of The Dead Sea Scrolls and the extensive history of the texts and all its sources in an effort to try to find exactly who wrote the bible (Who Wrote).
