Imagine going on a date for the first time. The two of you parked in a turnout on Lake Herman Road, when another car blocks you in. Barely any cars are driving at this time, and the driver of the other car gets out and shoots at the car forcing you two out. The shooter ceases fire and goes around to the passenger side. He takes out pieces of rope and demands that your date ties you up, so they do, but then they try to run away. The man shoots your date in the back and you in the head. That is what exactly happened to Betty Jensen and David Faraday on December 20th, 1968. Around eleven o’clock at night, Stella Borges left her house to go on a walk, when she saw the abandoned car and two bodies. She ran to the nearest gas station, and to her luck, Officer William T. About half an hour after the attack, an anonymous caller reported it and took claim for the Jensen and Faraday attack. It was traced back to a payphone near the police station. Growing up in a small town you would never expect for a family to get murdered. Many people have the perception that in a small-town things, never happen. Well I’m sure that’s what Herbert and Bonnie Clutter thought to until the night of their death. Herbert and Bonnie Clutter lived in Holcomb, Kansas with their two kids Nancy and Kenyon on their family farm. The Clutter family was very respected within the community and in Garden City. Herbert was also a very respected employer. The Clutter family lived a very disciplined but still enjoyable and well provided for.

Murder is a reprobate action that is an inevitable part of war. It forces humans into immoral acts, which can manifest in the forms such as shooting or close combat. The life of a soldier is ultimately decided from the killer, whether or not he follows through with his actions. In the short stories The Sniper by Liam O'Flaherty and Just Lather, That's All by Hernando Téllez, the killer must decide the fate of their victims under circumstantial constraints. The two story explore the difference between killing at a close proximity compared to killing at a distance, and how they affect the killer's final decision.

Kemper felt that his grandmother treated him the same as his mother did, therefore making it easy for him to displace his anger onto her. On one August afternoon in 1963, Kemper shot his grandmother in the back of the head with a .22 caliber rifle and stabbed her repeatedly about the body. When his grandfather returned home, he also used the gun on him shooting him as he exited his vehicle (Fisher, 2003b). A man carrying two revolvers and two 9mm semi-automatic handguns calmly strode into the Dunblane Primary School. Two people quickly spotted the firearms and tried to tackle the man; he shot them and left them wounded as he continued his journey down the hall of the school. Finally, the man reached his destination: the gym, where a class a kindergartners were having P.E. In the gym, he pulled out the guns and started picking off the five-year-olds one by one. The room was splattered with blood as young children broke like porcelain dolls under the power of the gun. The blood continued to flow, but the intruder did not stop; he took careful aim to make sure he didn't miss. The final insult came when he shot the teacher who was shielding kids with her body. Once he killed her, he killed the kids she was protecting. When he finished in the gym , he turned around walked out, shot at a class as he walked down the hall and walked out into the courtyard. In the courtyard, the killer ended the ordeal by taking his own life (Pederson).

Bernice Worden was born in 1899 and murdered on November 16th, 1957. Worden owned a store named after her last name, this is where she was working and last seen the day of her death (Biography.com). There is no real proof of exactly what Bernice Worden was killed with but there is evidence where she was found. Local police went to Gein's house due to suspicion and they found Worden dead inside of his house. This was not even half of the gruesome

Charles Manson and the Manson family committed gruesome crimes that shocked Los Angeles in 1969. The actress Sharon Tate and four others were ritualistically slaughtered in her Hollywoods Hills home. The murderers had left cryptic messages on the walls in the victims blood, and law enforcement were stumped by the multiple stab wounds found on the victims. The next day a married couple, Leno and Rosemary LaBianca, who were successful shop owners, were found in their Las Feliz home murdered in the same way as Sharon Tate and her friends.
