History Is Useful In Everyday Life

2384 Words5 Pages

History is a very important part of everyday life because without a past there can be no future, therefore making it impossible for society to progress. History is probably the most important thing in modern life, because we can learn so much from what has happened in past. A strong knowledge of global history is essential now in both the social scene and in the workplace because the world around us is quickly becoming one large group of people, and these people can be from pretty much anywhere in the world. Cultural backgrounds are really dissolving, and some countries don't really have a prominent race. The United States for example is not predominantly white anymore, and many of its citizens are immigrants from other countries. Knowledge is the key to the world, and history is always going to be an important subject. History has so many different uses, and is used by everyone at some point in their lives. Even the government uses history in some of their decision making processes. In most schools, history and social studies are classes that most students take in middle school. Some people don't believe that history should be taught in schools, or anywhere for that matter. These people don't think that history is accurate, and that stories in history could have been changed over the thousand times that they were told. History is important nonetheless, and by learning about our past, a bright future is basically guaranteed.

History is a record. History shows us what we have done in the past, and what could possibly lie ahead in our future. Everything has a history, and that is because history can be about anything. It can be about a person, or an entire group of people. It can be about a country or a gov...

...a group. History is a record that continues to keep track of everyday events that may seem meaningless now, but later on down the road people might actually learn something from our actions in school. It can help our government to make smarter choices, and in turn make the quality of life better for everyone living in this country. Some people say history is inaccurate because there is no such thing as truth, but the truth exists and without it nothing would ever be real. If the truth didn't exist, there would be no United States of America or even a world for that matter. If there was no truth to anything that has ever happened, an infinite number of events and stories never would have happened. All in all, the benefits of history far outweigh any of the possible negatives, and using history can prove to be more useful and helpful than most people would think.
