As an adult with all need a job to survive or to satisfy our needs and have pleasures when we have a time off. We also work because it is our duty and function as a member of society. But are we happy of what we’re doing? Job satisfaction describes how content an individual is with his or her job. According to a psychologist named Edwin Locke (1976) job satisfaction is a pleasurable or positive emotional state resulting from appraisal of one’s job or experiences. Job satisfaction can be understood in terms of its relationships with other key factors, such as general well-being, stress at work, control at work, home-work interface, and working conditions. This two-factor theory determines if an employee is satisfied or dissatisfied on his or her work. He developed the motivation-hygiene theory to explain these results. He called the satisfiers motivators and the dissatisfiers hygiene factors, using the term "hygiene" in the sense that they are considered maintenance factors that are necessary to avoid dissatisfaction but that by themselves do not provide satisfaction. Herzberg theory will be helpful to the researcher because it determines from the data that the motivators were elements that enriched a person's job; he found five factors in particular that were strong determiners of job satisfaction: achievement, recognition, the work itself, responsibility, and advancement.
