Heroism In S. E. Hinton's The Outsiders

When heroes are mention a stereotypical figure comes to mind, however in other pieces of literature heroism is showed more realistically. In the novel ¨The Outsiders¨ by S.E. Hinton, The characters Dally, Ponyboy, and Johnny play major roles. The Outsiders is a story about conflict in between the two social groups at the time, the greasers and socs. In the novel the character Dally became the hero of the story because he provided Johnny and Ponyboy with a gun and money, lead cops off Johnny´s trail, and helped during the fire by saving Pony.
Dally helps by giving Johnny and Pony a gun and money for their escape trip. Hinton confirms this when Ponyboy and Johnny are asking Dally for help to get away from the cops and hide out. ¨He handed us
