There are a lot of politicians nowadays with good interpersonal, leadership and communication skills that assist them to gather the crowds of people and make influential speeches. They make a lot of promises and loud announcements to illustrate that they are definitely a man of changes. However, there are few outstanding leaders ‘whose actions speak louder than their words’. They indeed make positive changes that facilitate not only to the prosperity of the nation but also improvements in the world. One of those remarkable politicians is Helen Clark. Mrs Clark is the former the first elected female Prime Minister of New Zealand and currently is the head of United Nation Development Programme. She has been one the most successive and successful leaders with numerous honours in New Zealand. Particularly, her antinuclear policy, her strong stance to prioritise the UN`s mission and her contribution to “Multipolar world” made a contribution to more peaceful and secure world.
Helen Clark was an active politician and activist for peace from the youth. She studied politics at Auckland University and closely studied rural political behaviour and representation. From her young age, she was against of New Zealand`s military intervention in Vietnam war when New Zealand was the ally of the USA. Also, she was against of military bases of the USA in New Zealand. In 1999, Helen Clark became the first elected female Prime Mister serving three successive terms between 1999 and 2008. Being the Prime Minister, Helen Clark`s government implemented major economic, social and political initiatives. ... Helen Clark has made her own contribution towards more peaceful world by holding an independent foreign policy that was based on advocating the justice. Her nuclear free legislation illustrated the strive for international peace and disarmament. By making New Zealand nuclear free zone she served other nations as an example how the diplomacy should be prioritised over the military power. In addition, the politician’s government was against the USA intervention in Iraq without mandate of the UN. She emphasized the fact that it is UN`s mission to establish peace in the world but not the mission or objectives of the world powers. . Therefore, the world has become a safer and more peaceful place to live with New Zealand being nuclear free zone and with more countries including New Zealand maintain independent foreign policy and contributing to” Multipolarity”
