Diabetes is doubling over the past 20 years(“Diabetes …”), life expectancy is decreasing (Stein), and diseases related to obesity and diabetes are increasing. If we do not do anything to educate students about eating healthy they will be making bad health decision and can harm their health in the future. A few solutions to this problems is to provide students with better healthier school lunches and classes to teach healthy eating.

Junk food is easy to eat but bad for your health and while eating junk food time to time might not be such a problem; however, eating it during breakfast, lunch or diner is the big problem because not enough nutrients is not entering your system. Also, students will develop eating habits and will make health a priority. In an article by Alice Waters and Katrina Heron published by New York Times, entitled “No Lunch Left Behind” the authors relate about how schools at Berkeley still use the money provided by U.S.D.A.; however, give their students cooked meals with organic ingredients. They save money by coming to an agreement with their local farmers to identify crops that they can grow in volume and sell for a reasonable price. , but in France. A video by Michael Moore is about his visit to one of the poorest schools in France and shows how the school has implemented real cooks to their lunches. The video goes on explaining how U.S. only give students roughly half an hour to stuff their faces with low quality food , but in france they make it into a class where students learn how to eat properly and healthily. It is like eating at a restaurant, there are four courses to the meal, they have real plates with glass cups, they do not wait in long lines like the U.S., the food is brought to them by the chef. This is already quite impressive , but what makes it even more impressive is that the school takes time with their chef to plan out an eating schedule for their students each month, this shows how their schools care more about their students health compared to the U.S. where they only care about profits instead of the students. We need to mimic what the French are doing, we need to start implementing eating schedules, we need to make lunch a class, we need to care more about the students more than
