There are benefits to being a Vegetarian, as there are benefits to being a carnivore. Vegetarianism is adopted by many because of Ethical Considerations, Environmental Concerns, and most dominantly, Health Concerns. Many would argue that Vegetarianism is more beneficial to mankind, by creating a healthier lifestyle, and increasing our overall life expectancy, but is it truly better for you? Vegetarianism and life expectancy. Vegetarianism can in fact increase our overall life expectancy. Out of six studies conducted by researchers to determine the effects of longevity from a meatless diet, four studies had results that vegetarians lived longer lives than those whom ate meat. A separate twelve year study conducted amongst approximately 34,000 members of a group of Seventh-Day Adventists, monitored and followed their eating habits. This study also proved to result that those who were not eating meat had at least a 15% lower chance of dying than those people whom were eating meat at least once a week. However can we truly say that being a vegetarian is better for you? Although there are so many studies proving the health benefits of being a vegetarian, there are also an equal amount of studies that prove that cutting back on certain foods (not completely cutting them off) can lead to a healthier lifestyle that still includes meat. There are valid arguments for and against vegetarianism, and whether it truly is a lifestyle that we should all consider adopting. However it may just boil down to making sure you are living a healthy lifestyle overall? Whether you are a carnivore, or a vegetarian is personal preference, both sides have pros and cons, but after hearing both sides of this debate, healthy living above all is something that we should all
