Have you ever been lonely after relocating to a new residence? Did you meet any new friends there? This is the life of Harry Potter. In J. K. Rowling’s novel, Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone, Harry Potter transfers to a new home with a new family but is without any friends. That soon changes. Deprived of companions as an abused, lonely orphan, Harry Potter joins the Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry where he establishes relationships with several comrades.

Harry met his companions on the train to Hogwarts. His first friends he ever had were Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger. First, the three friends use their collective knowledge to help each other in classes and on homework. The narrator states, “[Harry] didn't know how he'd have gotten through all his homework without [Hermione], what with all the last-minute Quidditch practice Wood was making them do” (181). Harry plays a sport called Quidditch and must attend every practice. He does not have much time to do his homework. Therefore, Harry asks his friend for assistance. In addition, they go on adventures together where they protect each other. For example, Harry and Ron ran into the bathroom to rescue Hermione from a twelve feet tall troll. Hermione, who would never lie to a teacher, lies to one in order to protect Harry and Ron from getting punished. They always save one another when one of them is in danger. Also, the friends support each other. Ron and Hermione spectate at every single one of Harry’s Quidditch matches to support him. Lastly, the trio teamed up and was able to stop Harry’s enemy, Voldemort. Each person assisted. Ron helped them advance to the next room by winning a life-sized game of chess. Hermione assisted them by finding the right potion to drink to allow Harry
In movies, novels, and life, people are named as heroes. The heroes we establish and the heroes we recognize, however, may not meet the criteria for a mythic hero. A mythic hero ventures forth on his journey, and comes forth from the hero’s path to greatness. Joseph Campbell, a mythologist who studied many of the great human myths and religious tales, realized, in studying these myths and tales, that there were certain steps that every hero went through. Campbell called this “The Hero’s Journey”; it is based on Carl Jung's idea that all human beings have an archetype. After Campbell studied a lot of the great myths and realized this pattern, he published his findings in his book The Hero with a Thousand Faces. Ever since then, authors have used “The Hero’s Journey” as an outline to tell their stories. “It is important to note that not all of these individual steps are present in every hero’s tale, nor is it important that they be in this exact order” (Vogler 20). The Hero with a Thousand Faces gives a sense of significance as it looks into the inner mind and soul. The author, Joseph Campbell, performs two extraordinary accomplishments: compelling his readers that myth and dream, those are the most effective and everlasting forces in life and a unification of mythology and psychoanalysis with a gripping narrative. One well-known example of “The Hero’s Journey” from popular culture is the Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone, by J.K. Rowling. In the novel, Harry Potter, the main character, is the chosen one and “The Hero’s Journey” applies to his life from the moment he is attacked by He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named as a baby.
He then sees his cousin, who he lives with and hates. They then get in a fight and Harry pulls out his wand and at that exact moment two dementors attack them. Dudley thinks Harry is attacking him, so he punches Harry. Harry then heroically saves them both by producing a patronus and driving away the dementors. They get back home and Harry gets a letter from the Ministry of Magic that says because he used magic he is expelled (Harry is underage and underage wizards aren't supposed to use magic).

Just to quickly run through the two previous books; Harry Potter is a wizard, who’s parents were killed by the worst dark wizard ever known. The reason why Harry Potter is still around, is because Lord Voldemort failed to kill Harry. His spell hit Harry, but then backfired on Voldemort taking all of his powers with him. Harry is so famous for two things. Withstanding the powers of Lord Voldemort, and, taking him back in to the underworld in hiding. In the first book, Harry receives a letter from Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. He’s eventually allowed to go, and spends the next six months there learning magic, getting into trouble, and trying to solve mysteries of his past, and the school. In the second book, Harry goes back to his second year at Hogwarts, and gets into more trouble, figures out many astonishing mysteries and learns loads more magic. His best friends in the two books consist of Ron and Hermione (two of his fellow wizard students) and Hagrid the gamekeeper who was expelled from Hogwarts but allowed a job as the gamekeeper.
Harry had an issue at home with his parents who did not do what a real parent would do, not experiencing the outside world, having parents who come home late and does not take care of their son. The authors of the Lord of the Rings and Harry Potter each use the hero quest pattern as a scheduled backdrop of action. The two protagonists, Frodo Baggins and Harry Potter have very similar beginnings. They are introduced as normal boys who find out that they are going to undertake something very great. The two protagonists however, are not alone in their quests. They both have very similar mentors in Gandalf and Dumbledore respectively. Even greater guidance comes from their friends, who are there every step of the way. Each novel uses a reoccurring symbol to show the presence of evil. The two journeys are so epic due in part to the dark and powerful villains that each hero has to battle.
In Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, author J.K. Rowling displays the themes of feminism, love, and death because she personally experienced the importance of each. Throughout her lifetime Rowling experienced many difficult and wonderful times with her family, friends, and fans. These experiences and the effects that they had on the author’s life are clearly demonstrated in her written work. Through her characters in this novel Rowling created an outlet that she may solve her problems and relive the wonders of her life not only for herself but for her readers as well.
Two of the best things in the world, “Monty Python and the Holy Grail” and “Harry Potter,” have a good deal in common. Other than the vast amount of space reserved in my brain for storing quotes and random facts from these two stories, both tales share many similar objects, plot devices, character attributes, and themes. Even though Python's “Holy Grail” is an exact historical representation of the Arthurian Grail legend, some might argue that the “Harry Potter” story is more reflective of the actual ancient texts than the 1974 film.
Harry Potter starts off slow, but gets very interesting near the end. In the beginning, you meet the Dursleys, Harry’s aunt, uncle, and their son Dudley. Then you learn that Harry’s parents were witches, and that they were destroyed by a evil wizard. A good witch, Albus Dumbeldoor, sends Harry to the Dursleys, because they’re his only remaining family. The Dursleys however, hated Harry and his family, so Harry was mistreated for years. He was forced to live in a cuborrod under the stairs. He had to watch as the fat, stuck up Dudley got whatever he wanted, and then usually broke whatever it was he got. Then one day Harry got a letter.
In this domestic conflict, Harry fights Uncle Vernon to see the letters, which may provide some answers as to the identity of his parents. This is the initial quest for Harry’s self-identity, which reveals the potential for self-realization as a wizard. This aspect of the “real world” certainly defines a motive for “escapism” for Harry, as he seeks to find his true self, but his identity is far more complex than what the real has to offer him. In this manner, Rowling then creates the “fantasy world” of Hogwarts’s School to achieve the goal of self-realization in Harry’s quest for a true identity.
Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows was written by J. K. Rowling and is the seventh and final book in the Harry Potter series. The book is about a seventeen-year-old wizard, named Harry Potter, who has to travel all over England to find things that will help him defeat the evil wizard, Lord Voldomort. The main theme/moral of the entire series is good will always triumphs over evil. In every book, even when it looks like evil is going to win, good always triumphs in the end.
Harry Potter begins his life as a loner because his relatives did not want to acknowledge him. At Hogwarts, he meets three people who become his good friends. Each has a strength and with that a weakness. Ron needs Harry to help him realize that he can be great and live up to his many brothers. Hermione helps Harry through all his schoolwork and during danger. In return, Harry helps Hermione loosen up and acknowledge what true friendship is. Neville gets courage from his friends. Together, they overcome the weakness and help each other through all the conflicts that come their way.
In the novel, Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone, J.K Rowling introduces her main character, a 11-year old British wizarding student, Harry Potter. Harry is described to have jet-black hair, green eyes, and to be pale, skinny, and bespectacled. While Harry was still and infant, he was responsible for the downfall of a dark and powerful wizard, as a result his name is known to everyone wizarding world. In the novel, despite all the fame and admiration he has, Harry only recently finds out he is a wizard, and that he is famous. Therefore Harry feels burdened and insecure with all the attention he is receiving, and at the end of the novel, he proves himself to be an incredible wizard. Throughout the novel we learn Harry is brave, curious and modest.
