Maybe I was meant to spend my days eating pizza rolls on the couch while watching National Treasure Book of Secrets and avoiding my other homework. I have spent the last seven summers of my life working as a lifeguard and swim lesson instructor at Huntington Estates Bath and Tennis. I absolutely love my job. I work with some of the greatest people I have ever met and I always looked forward to going to work. My coworkers are my summer family: we always spend time with each other, celebrate each other’s accomplishments, and confide in each other. My coworkers make me laugh daily and give me the confidence to be myself. They give me pure, undeniable happiness. On any given day the guard office is filled with roaring laughter, sarcastic comments, and good-hearted fun. One of the happiest memories I have of the pool happened one morning before swim lessons. Swim lessons start at eight o’clock in the morning and the instructors are to be at the pool by 7:45. On this day it was sunny but too cold for kids to be in the water so we cancelled the either and eight thirty lessons. Two of the guards I am closest with and I decided to lay on the pool deck in the sun because the office was freezing. We trotted outside with our towels and sweatshirts and set up a little camp. As more instructors arrived at work they came out and joined us. Soon we had a circle of about six workers laying in the sun talking and laughing. We all go through each day trying to figure out which road out the infinite amount of paths will lead us in a better direction where happiness is prominent and society is flawless. However, not every single human being is going to fit on that narrow, one-lane highway to success. Bad choices, accidents, fate, family matters, society, temptation, anger, rage, addiction, and loss of hope can all be deciding factors in opting to choose that wrong path to self-destruction. The adverse thing is, once you've traveled so far down the road, you get so discouraged that you feel like you can never turn back or make up for the "lost time."

One element that brings me joy is my family. I enjoy creating memories with my family. Since most of my family works all of the time, it is always nice to spend time with each other.
