The Holocaust was a very catastrophic time in history, and it should never happen again. Between 1939 and 1945, the Nazis created over hundreds of Ghettos all around the world (Wood). Hana Brady was a 13-year-old girl who died in the Holocaust. She had blond hair, blue eyes, and a pretty face. Although the Holocaust was a calamity, if the Holocaust never happened, then people would not have the opportunity to learn about Hana Brady. Hana was born on May 16, 1931, in Dove Mesto. January of 1933 the Nazis came to rule of Germany. Nazis believed that Germans were racially superior and seen Jews as a threat to their German racial community. Due to this reason, the Nazis created the Holocaust. The Holocaust is known as a time in history when Adolf Hitler, the leader of the Nazis and his collaborators killed to about six million Jews, through Genocide, Ethnic cleansing, deportation, and mass murder. But the point of this story is to tell the story of a young woman who I had the privilege to meet by the name of Anna Seelfreud Grosz who survived this tragic time in history.
In researching testimony I chose to write about Eva Kor’s. Eva and her sister Miriam were taken to Auschwitz II- Birkenau from a Ceheiu which was a Romania ghetto in the 1940’s. Eva’s story starts out in Port, Romania where she was born and raised with her family before the holocaust. Eva had two older sisters Aliz and Edit who were murdered during the Holocaust along with her parents. The last time Eva saw her father and sisters were when they arrived in Auschwitz. Eva and Miriam were with there mother until a man asked if they were twins. There mother said yes after asking if that was a good thing and then they were taken away never to see her again. Once taken away they were brought to a barrack for twins were they were kept until liberated.
Who was Elie Wiesel? Elie Wiesel is a famous Holocaust survivor, a political activist, professor, and a novelist. He is the recipient of many different accomplishments and achievements throughout his life. He is most known for his novel Night, which is about his survival during the Holocaust.

In Czechoslovakia, on May 16, 1931 Hana Brady was born to her parents Marketa and Karel. Before Hana her parents had George, who is a survivor of the Holocaust. Unfortuantly Hana and her parents were victims. Hana was first involved in the Holocaust when she watched her parents get arrested by the Nazi's in 1941 leaving Hana and George alone. For the time, their Uncle and Aunt took them in to live with them. In May of 1942, Hana and George were deported to Terezin, a concentration camp, after receiving an order to report to the deportation center. While traveling to Terezin, Hana celebrated her 11th birthday. Upon arrival they were then separated from each other, into girl and boy barracks. Here Hana led an active life, she took secret classes
For some, it seems that the Holocaust in another lifetime, but for others it will be something they will never forget. Holocaust was a time for fighting. The Jewish would fight for the right to live as they were killed solely for being Jewish. The Holocaust began in 1939 and would continue through 1945. It was introduced by Nazi leader Adolf Hitler, although he did not act alone. His mission would be to “exterminate” all minorities, but most abundantly, the Jews. Based on information given by About.com, it is estimated that 11 million people were killed during the Holocaust. Six million of these were Jews.
Holocaust Facts The Holocaust has many reasons for it. Some peoples’ questions are never answered about the Holocaust, and some answers are. The Holocaust killed over 6 million Jews (Byers.p.10.) Over 1.5 million children (Byers, p. 10). They were all sent to concentration camps to do hard labor work.
By putting a story behind the name written on a suitcase she received, Fumiko believed she could make the holocaust more relatable to the children. The conflict develops when Fumiko is unable to learn any details about Hana despite her working tirelessly and contacting as many museums as possible. The conflict comes to a climax when the opportunity presents itself for Fumiko to visit Czechoslovakia where she finally learns the story of Hana Brady. She learns that Hana was murdered at Auschwitz, and that her brother, George, was still alive. This plot and conflict were important to the story because it allows us to learn Hana’s story, give her brother some closure, all while teaching the children of the Small Wing about the holocaust.
Those of half and quarter Jewish descent remain largely forgotten in the history of the Third Reich and genocide of the Holocaust. Known as Mischlinge, persons of deemed “mixed blood” or “hybrid” status faced extensive persecution and alienation within German society and found themselves in the crosshairs of a rampant National Socialist racial ideology. Controversially, these people proved somewhat difficult to define under Nazi law that sought to cleave the Volk from the primarily Jewish “other”, and as the mechanization toward Hitler’s “Final Solution” the Mischlinge faced probable annihilation. The somewhat neglected status of Mischlinge necessitates a refocusing on German racialization as well as reconsideration of the implications wrought by the alienation and ultimate persecution of the thousands of half and quarter Jews subjugated in Nazi Germany.
Women went through many hardships during the Holocaust, but many didn’t differ from the ones that men went through. It would be incorrect to say that women and men went through exactly the same things. While they did go through many similar things women were treated slightly differently because of their gender.
As early as age thirteen, we start learning about the Holocaust in classrooms and in textbooks. We learn that in the 1940s, the German Nazi party (led by Adolph Hitler) intentionally performed a mass genocide in order to try to breed a perfect population of human beings. Jews were the first peoples to be put into ghettos and eventually sent by train to concentration camps like Auschwitz and Buchenwald. At these places, each person was separated from their families and given a number. In essence, these people were no longer people at all; they were machines. An estimation of six million deaths resulting from the Holocaust has been recorded and is mourned by descendants of these people every day. There are, however, some individuals who claim that this horrific event never took place.
“Hope is being able to see that there is light despite all of the darkness,” Desmond Tutu once said (“Desmond Tutu Quotes”). During the Holocaust, the Jews were treated very badly but some managed to stay hopeful through this horrible time. The book Parallel Journeys by Eleanor Ayer shows how Helen Waterford and Alfons Heck who had two very different stories but managed to stay hopeful. Helen was a Jew who went into hiding for awhile before being taken away from her family and being sent to a concentration camp. Alfons was a member of the Hitler Youth where he became the youngest member of the German air force. To him, Hitler was everything and he would die any day for him and his country. As for Helen, Hitler was the man ruining her life. The Holocaust was horrible to live through but some managed to survive because of the hope they contained.
The Holocaust was an extremely horrific period of history. Millions were killed and lost everything, including money, family, and dignity. However, it has taught many lessons. We can study it today to make sure nothing like it ever happens again.
The Holocaust was the genocide of approximately six million people of innocent Jewish decent by the Nazi government. The Holocaust was a very tragic time in history due to the idealism that people were taken from their surroundings, persecuted and murdered due to the belief that German Nazi’s were superior to Jews. During the Holocaust, many people suffered both physically and mentally. Tragic events in people’s lives cause a change in their outlook on the world and their future. Due to the tragic events that had taken place being deceased in their lives, survivors often felt that death was a better option than freedom.
During the rule of Adolf Hitler, many children who were Jewish lived a very frightening and difficult life. They never were given the love and compassion that every child needs and deserves growing up. The Holocaust is a story that will continue to be shared till the end of time.
