When trying to hire a new stylist it is important to ask questions that are not in the usual interviews. First impressions are important, but they are not necessarily how the person is in day to day life. When thinking of my questions to ask I tried to think of what I would want to tell a potential boss about me. I wanted to not only know about how they would be in a salon and their skills, I wanted to see their personality. In salon life personality is important.

My two candidates where kind and answered the questions with ease. Although it was easy to ask them the questions choosing which one I would pick was hard. She was not afraid to answer honestly. Throughout the interview I could tell that she is a perfectionist, while that is not necessarily a terrible thing it could become a problem when time management comes into play. She used the words “funny, nice, and stylish” stylish to describe herself. The nice and stylish are good for applying to a trendy new salon, I am though slightly worried about the funny, it leads me to believe that she might not take her work as seriously as she need to be in a professional environment. I was however impressed with how she voiced her strengths and how she would be willing to work on time management.

Candidate number 2 was also charming in the interview. She was more focused on her goals and achievements in her cosmetology career. She was proud of her skills with haircutting and natural hair cultivation. I was extremely impressed on how she presented herself and her demeanor throughout the questioning. She knew a little less about the salon and what types of services that we did. Time management was a strong suit of hers and it is pleasant knowing that she works better with schedules and having deadlines to
