Greed paralyzes people. Everyone says that they care about others and want the best for everyone else but is that really the case? Do you put yourself after your friends? In reality, people are greedy even if they don't realize it. The damage greed can do to people is irreparable. In The Pearl by John Steinbeck, greed overrules family morals and causes permanent damage to relationships. Steinbeck uses motif to present the damage and changes greed can bring to people.
