In 1914 the “Great” War start and it was one of the bloodiest and darkest war of all time. Now they are many events that took place before then to get to that point. In this paper we are going to look at nationalism, expansion, and war in the late 19th century through the early 20th century. These events will all be connected in causing the “Great” War to happen. That all change with the second industrial revolution. The United States introduced Japan to the second industrial revolution. The United States brought big ship that were more advanced then anything Japan could ever dream of. Japan were shocked and awe and sign a treaty with the United States to trade. This led Japan to abandoned their isolated way and become an isolated country. Now Japan has always been a smart country open to foreign ways and was quickly adapted to being a powerful modern country at the 18th century. Now Japan become an industry power after 1880. Japan will play more role during World War 2. This was started of the Meigi restoration the process of Japan become a more modern country. To complete Germany unification, the Germans started a war with Francecalled Franco-Prussia War.The Germans won the war and completed their goal in German unification with the land of Alsace-Lorraine they won from French. The “treaty” of Frankfurt was cruel, they force the French to give up Alsace-Lorraine a major land in France they also made them pay for the wars which ended up being 5 billion
