1.The name of the reef is the Great Barrier Reef. It is the earths largest coral reef and the largest structure on earth made by living, breathing organisms. The Great Barrier Reef is a community of 2,900 individual reefs off the coast of Queensland and in northeast Australia.

2.The Great Barrier Reef is located by a part of the Pacific Ocean called the Coral Sea.

3.The Great Barrier Reef is in the barrier stage and is also the worlds biggest barrier reef.

4.The Great Barrier Reef is has been on a very deep steep decline the past 27 years and is averaging about a 3 to 4 percent rate each year.

Crown-of-thorns starfish eat coral and are increased by nutrient runoff from agriculture, and coral bleaching from very high temperatures, which are rising due to the change in the environment..Coral bleaching also happens when the sea temperatures rise and cause the corals to expand their zooxanthellae the minuscule photosynthetic algae that live in the coral's tissues.

6.There are many strategies used to increase the state of the Great Barrier Reef. As for what can be done to save the reef some say reducing co2 emissions is the key.Although these people are trying to save the worlds biggestreef, it is not a very short term project. Its very to save them when five category 5 storms in the past 7 years have harshly pounded the reefs.But, there are efforts in place to sumbit the damage from starfish.One project encourages farmers to adopt practices that reduce the amount of nutrient rich runoff pouring into increasing reef
