• One of the pros of public policies is that government actions, decisions and programs are not just at the national level, but state and local level. The government is making policies that addresses issues from education, healthcare, national defense, as well as, criminal justice.

• Our safety is one of the top priorities when it comes to public policies at all levels of government, whether local, state or federal. ‘Public policies result in improved national security, safer food and consumer goods, better police protection, cleaner air and water and improved workplace safety. Regulatory policies such as these can improve public safety and enhance quality of life” (Hall, 2013). As we learned throughout Public Policy textbook by Anderson, there are positive benefits of having public policies for instance; policies have a major impact on the individual and the society as a whole, which is important on how a policy is implemented or evaluated.

Public policies for improving education, for example, can have positive economic impacts by leading to a workforce with better education and skills. Policies related to infrastructure can strengthen the foundation for economic growth by improving transportation and communications systems. These improvements position a nation to accommodate the rapid pace of technology change” (Hall,
p. 1). Additionally, Anderson stated that public policies collectively have accomplished a great deal. Even though some policies have low visibility, policies are still made where the consumers are benefit. For example lawsuits against job discrimination under the 1964 Civil Rights Act. Whatever their shortcomings, public policies have done much to improve the quality and comfort of modern life in the United States “ (Anderson, 351-352).
