Students learn many different lessons while participating in school activities and competing on athletic teams. Sportsmanship, determination, time management, holding yourself accountable, and trusting yourself are some important lessons that I experienced and took away from my time being on the golf team at my school for four years. One of the most significant lessons that the game of golf taught me was to always have the desire to learn and better yourself. A person can never be done learning because there will always be new skills to learn and old skills to improve upon. I love and value learning and believe that it is necessary to strive to be a life long learner. The golf course is my home during the fall season. I spend more time at practice, with my teammates, and on the golf course than I do with my own family. There is something about the golf course that makes me mentally and physically calm. Life feels so peaceful on the golf course. It is more than just a sport to me; golf is impossible to master so it keeps me working hard, trying to be the best I can possibly be. I was about 130 yards from the green on one of the hardest holes on the golf course. I took out my 7 iron and took a practice swing. I start to think about all of the tips my coaches had given me. I step up to my ball and aim straight towards the flag. Every stroke counts in the game of golf, so each swing needs to be done with care. I swing my club and feel good contact on the ball. I know that the ball will fly well, but I didn’t know just how favorable the result would be. The ball flew as straight as an arrow to the green, bounced a few times, and I heard it drop right in the hole from 130 yards
