A couple torn apart, a golden hero trio, a lovable droid, and a masked villain, these are all themes and characters that are very present in the original Star Wars movies and that, through some wonderful casting and directing choices, J.J Abrams revived in Star Wars: The Force Awakens. The amount of wonderful nostalgic details in this new film will take both old and young Star Wars fans alike back to when they first saw a Star Wars film.
Carrie Fisher and Harrison Ford return in The Force Awakens as the regal Leia Organa and scruffy Han Solo, they may have the lines of time etched on their face, but the acting and chemistry between them is still there and is reminiscent of their early romance in the earlier Star Wars movies. However, with The Force Awakens being set 30 years after the events of The Return of the Jedi the the original golden trio is much older, no longer capable of the active missions of old, and have in some cases become mere myths and legends throughout the galaxy. A new golden trio of heroes is introduced in The Force Awakens in the form a girl and two men. Rey, played by brilliant Hollywood newcomer Daisy Ridley, is a young desert girl who has no family or real home, but has the heart of a lion and uses her courage to help her in her adventures throughout the galaxy. Daisy Ridley, who has never starred in a blockbuster film before, brings a freshness and liveliness to the character of Rey. Casting young, new actors in large roles is always a gamble, but J.J Abrams hit the jackpot with Ridley.
The next member of the new golden trio is Poe Dameron, played by veteran actor and Golden Globe nominee Oscar Isaac, a very skilled Resistance fighter pilot who helps Leia Organa fight the Dark Side. Last, but not least, a young man named Finn, played by the fresh young talent John Boyega, of strange background and circumstance, is part of the new golden
