“Give me fuel, give me fire, give me that which I desire”, if one doesn’t know where this famous lyric has come from, the band Metallica would be the answer. Metallica is a lethal, energetic, up tempo metal band that has been around since October 1, 1981. Screeching of the guitar, double bass pedal of the drums, deep noises of the bass, and a recognizable voice, Metallica is the only band where no band could do it any better. Metallica started out slow, overcame some obstacles and is still rocking out country to country today.
Metallica started from the drummer Lars Ulrich and James Hetfield. Lars had told James that “I've got a track saved for my band on Brian Slagel's new Metal Blade label." No one would ever have known that those words would make a band that is the 7th biggest selling act in American History. It was for a short time that those two were the only ones in the band. Lars had played the drum tracks and managing the music while James had played rhythm, lead, and bass guitar along with the lyrics. Soon after Hetfield talked up with his roommate, Ron McGovney , who took the role of bass. Also, Dave Mustaine, took the role as the new lead guitarist of Metallica.

Metallica started from nothing and became the most unpredictable, unique, recognizable band today. Metallica will always sit on the throne of the Metal world in my eyes. Kirk Hammetts memorizing solos will always be played with my air guitar. Hetfields lyrics will be forever replaying in my head. Bassist Rob, Cliff, and Jason will be in the back of my mind when I am playing guitar to help keep my rhythm. Also, as I am sitting in a classroom in my chair, Lars Ulrichs signature double bass pedal will be played by my feet. The next time one is on the radio and happened to hear the words “EXIT LIGHT, ENTER LIGHT” put the volume on max and just jam out as if there is no tomorrow.
