Scholarship Essay I believe setting goals for your future is important because it sets goals for you to reach. People need to learn that you need to see yourself in the future. This will help you reach your goals. Picturing your future can help you set up for many things. For example you could possibly figure out how much money you should invest in your retirement plan or any stocks that you own. You could even figure out if you wanted to take a loan out later in life, and figuring how you’re going to spend your money later in life. You will be glad you planned at the end, I've thought about this many times. In ten years from now I see my self working for an electrical company as a electrician. Being an electrician is what a job that I believe I would enjoy doing as my career. I have many goals I want to …show more content…
I don't know how I'm going to do my retirement plan yet. I know that I'm going to put my money on a plan that will increase it over time. I hope by the time that I retire I have enough money saved up to enjoy the rest of my life. I believe having a retirement is very important because it places you in a great spot later in life. I hope to be able to invest my money in stocks in so,e way. I've been practicing on stocks so I know what I'm doing when I do invest real money in stocks. Investing stocks can be very risky but at the same time it can be a great investment if your stocks do good. Stocks can earn you money quick if you know what what stocks to invest to. I would probably start investing in penny stocks so I get the feel before investing large amounts of money. Having a family of my own is something that I hope to have in my future. I believe starting a family is very beneficial for you because, it’ll make you responsible because you'll have a family to look for. That's a dream I have because I know fiat no matter what goes on in my life they will be there for me at the end of the
As a child I did not know a lot about college. None of the adults in my life had been to College, my family did not talk about it, and it seemed like a distant land that I heard about only in movies and on Television. I was first introduced to college when my third grade class took a field trip to Iowa State University, clearly a much needed field trip considering my lack of exposure to higher education. I was immediately amazed by the grand architecture and massive buildings. I had never seen anything like a University campus before. The few things that I remember about the trip were that everything was big, the college students played with us, and we got to swim in the pool. While the larger purpose of the field trip may have been lost to my childhood excitement of getting to swim in a big pool, the field trip did mark the beginning of my knowledge of higher education and from then on I always viewed it as something that I would be a part of eventually, even if it did seem like a very distant future at age eight. As I grew older I developed other reasons for wanting to attend colle...
A global citizen is that who is willing to use its voice and knowledge to make a change. No one would ever be able to make a change in just one day, it is something that takes time and devotion. I’m really interested in diversity and I’m seeking to what is my role is as a world citizen. The fact that I’m searching for an international education is the proof of my desire to establish myself as a global citizen and my interest in the world issues.
As a young lady graduating from The Dalles Whatonka High School I think it’s important to be involved in as many activity’s as possible. Throughout my high school years I have been involved in many school activities and comities such as student government. I have always had an interest in athletics and played sports. These leadership and athletic roles have tough me skills that will last me a lifetime.
Money security is very ideal for me in the future. I don’t care to be rich per say, but it would be relaxing to know that I don’t have to live paycheck
When searching for a book that discussed personal financial planning, I couldn’t find a more appropriate one. Right off the bat, the title caught my attention. “Your Money Your life” seemed pretty personal so I flipped the book over and the back read, “This new edition…explains their 9 step program and shows you how to: get out of debt and develop savings, make values-based decisions about your spending, resolve inner conflicts between values and lifestyle etc. The book now has my attention, I opened it up and began reading right there in the bookstore. Immediately at the beginning of the prologue of “Your Money Your Life” the authors started with a series of questions to ask yourself. Some of the questions included, “Do you have enough money, are you spending enough time with your family and friends, do you come home from your job full of life, do you have time to participate in things you believe are worthwhile and so on and so forth”. After answering no to most of the questions, I knew this was the book for me.
My passion for public service initiated in my third grade reading class. It was there that I volunteered for “Reading Together USA”, a program to help younger children learn to read. The joy and delight that I felt from witnessing my students’ progress was unprecedented to any feeling that I ever felt before, and I knew from that point forward that my life would be committed to serving the public. Although my forms (TRYING TO SAY WAYS LIKE 1st pre-med then law) of serving others may have changed, the trend of service has remained constant through high school, college, and even my career.
You must expect the unexpected. I would want to give my children as many opportunities to go out and learn new things. Twenty years from now, I will have to pay for a mortgage. I will also be paying for health insurance and car insurance.
“Opportunity is missed by most because it is dressed in overalls and looks like work” –Thomas Edison. I have had to struggle to get where I am today, and there have been times that I thought I would not make it to my senior year of high school. My life would almost replicate the location of a natural disaster to some. I broke my arm this past October and had to undergo reconstructive surgery, everything academics wise fell out from under my feet. After having surgery on my arm I repeatedly missed school for occupational therapy, which is a form of physical therapy. On top of my arm, I had just gotten my job back at Arby’s. By November I was working anywhere from 20-35 hours a week with school, a broken arm, and OT. I had no time for anything, not even sleep. When I was at school I could barely keep my eyes open, it eventually got to the point that when I was able to attend a full day of school I would sleep during some of my classes so that I would not fall asleep at work that night. I have worked harder in this last year just to make it through, than I have in the last four years to keep my grades up. I work every night now, and my arm is a little more healed than it was when I first started my job, but I still have limitations as to what I can do as a human being. Throughout this essay I will cover these three major points; the most important thing that I have learned in high school, why the scholarship will make a difference in my educational goals, and how I hope to make a difference in the community with my career.
First off, I would like to say again, thank you for nominating me as a possible recipient for this scholarship. I do not think I have ever been recognized for my academic achievements throughout my entire school career. I never was really focused and determined to learn before like I am now. So just the nomination is an honor, no matter if I receive the scholarship or not. Thank you for the recognition. It truly made my day.
Figuring out where you will be financially years from now is hard to imagine. There are always what you plan, and then there’s things that just happen that you would usually rather not have of. You can always make goals and things and hope that things go alright and end up close to what you expected.
Setup a retirement budget. Teach my kids financial independence. Cut 20% of my spending. Read about financial intelligence. Follow 2 financial blogs.
Life is complex. Situations may arise that will make it harder for you to reach your financial goals.
Everyone likes the finer things in life, but refuses to save for later. We want quick gratification by pushing the limit of our finances. My personal finance became important to me at the of 30. In my mid 20s became vigilant of the way money was being spent and how it may affect my daily live. The goal
First, prioritizing what you need in life and determining what you are aiming to do in life and how you are going to financially achieve your goals is the biggest part of money values. Secondly, saving up your money should be another huge option that should be implemented. Focus on buying what is needed to survive and do good for yourself, and if you don’t need to buy things that you want right in that moment, then save your money and have a good plan in place to fall back on. Finally, keeping a balance of your needs and wants should be a plan to implement. If you are able to take care of both your needs and your wants based on your financial situation, then you are able to use your money to the fullest extent.
As I think through where I want my life to be financially, both now and in the future, there are a few statements that fit with the now category. One is to begin paying back my student loan debt. That way I will be able to save myself from having to pay more for interest on the loans. Another statement is to start saving money for a good car. I realized in my financial plan how expensive taking a taxi to work would be and now I know for certain that I need to be able to buy my own car and the necessities that accompany one. Thirdly, I would like to start giving more money to the church on Sunday mornings. I have also thought of statements for the future. One of these being to save money for a home. This is important to me because I want my children to have a nice home to grow up in. Another statement is to finish paying of my college debt; however, I hope to
