Gloria is the first family member that we will be discussing. It is important to keep in mind that there will be barriers that Gloria will face being a Latina being afraid that her husband will be deported. Some of the struggles can include language, culture, sexism, education, and lack of resources including proper medical care. In Latina culture the family is the most important thing. Feeling the need to stay home to take care of their family is more important than taking care of their personal needs (Vidales, 2010). Using person in environment lens with ecological theory. Using the ecological theory, the first step is microsystem which he immediate environment, her home. What role does Gloria feel like she plays in her home? The mesosystem would include her environment and interactions with people. Look at her relationship with her family, church, and her close relationship with her sister Carmen. The exosystem will include Leo’s workplace, and community agencies that can help Gloria.
