Is It Getting Hot In Here, Or Is It Just Me? Global warming is a very hot topic in the meteorological world and everyday life. It not only affects the weather, but also us, the landmasses, our food sources, and other organisms inhabiting the world with us. Global warming happens when pollutants or carbon dioxide levels are increased, slowly raising the overall temperatures in the atmosphere. Some scientists think that global warming is a myth or conspiracy theory, due to its obscurity. However, based on the evidence that we do have, we can tell that global warming is a very real thing. Another reason people don’t believe in global warming is because it is not happening as fast as they think it will. While most people believe that if global warming is occurring, it would occur rapidly, in a short time such as a few days or months. That is not the case. Though still severe and worrisome, global warming and climate change will take hundreds, if not thousands, of years to make a large impact. Polar ice caps are melting and sea levels are slowly rising, but it would not be until the end of the twenty first century when we see a definite
