The U.S. government should be praised for its foreign policy actions. During the 1900s, the United States government connected with numerous countries and nations. For example, U.S. helped Puerto Rico when they were in complication. Also, United States helped the Allied Nations achieve victory in World War 1. While some people may say that the U.S. government were unfair with their foreign policy with Cuba, however, U.S. helped Cuba gain independence from Spain. These are three out of the countless relations U.S. had with other nations, the United States government should be appreciated for their actions. According to the movie, The World Wars: Trial by Fire, Americans provided new technologies such as poison gas, trenches, tanks and machine guns. These new technologies changed the course of the warfare and gave the allied nations the upper hand in achieving success. Furthermore, one of the greatest generals who fought in WW1 was George S. Patton. As stated in the movie, George S. Patton has excellent leadership qualities, he was smart, tough, and he understood technology. Patton played a significant role during World War 1, he used Battalion Lightweight Tanks in his battle, which made great progress and benefitted the Allied Nations. The U.S. government’s decision to support the Allied Nations during World War 1 helped them win against the Central Powers. However, people fail to remember that the United States helped Cuba gain independence from Spain originally. According to the article, “Information About U.S. Foreign Policy on Cuba”, it states, “From 1868 the Cuban people had struggled for independence from Spain. Slavery in Cuba had been abolished, but Spain denied Cubans their independence and ruled repressively on the island.” It wasn't the United States government who were unfair to Cuba, it was, in fact, Spain. After the Cubans were free from the Spanish, United States helped them recover and reconstruct from the Spanish-American War.This justifies that United States’ actions toward Cuba was beneficial and the misunderstanding toward U.S. clears up. Undoubtedly, the United States should be praised for their foreign policy actions. Their cooperation with other countries assisted them in their needs. The United States supported Puerto Rico with their problems, they assisted the Allied Nations in World War 1 to achieve victory from the Central Powers, and they protected Cuba from Spain.
