What is the American dream today? The American dream today is to have plenty of money to where you don’t have to be worrying about any problems. The American dream in the 1930s was to own your own house on a small farm with farm animals running around. George and Lennie are facing the problem of not owning their own house, so they are faced with multiple conflicts such as having to move across the country for work. In the novel Of Mice and Men George and Lennie’s American dream is to work on their own farm and to harvest their own crops and not having to work for anyone else. Throughout the novel she is known as a tramp and flirts heavily with lennie when he's in the barn petting his puppy. Curley's wife puts lennie's hand on her head to touch and feel how soft her hair but she didn't know how bad of an idea that was. A giant rabbit jumped out of Lennie's head and started talking to him in Lennie's voice and said George will be so mad at you. George comes out of the brush and Lennie looks at him and asks if he was mad at him george says no. lennie asks george to tell him how we are getting a house with rabbits and george says turn and look out across the lake and imagine it, Lennie does so and george pulls out a luger pistol. George says no one will harm you or steal from you any more George puts the gun up near lennie's head and pulls the trigger. George ended up getting his american dream of doing whatever he wanted to when ever he wanted to. Lennie is in heaven where no one will hurt him
