B. In my opinion, gender refers to the constructed characteristics of men and women set in place by society. This refers to the norms, roles, and relationships of and between men and women. From a young age, children of different genders are often taught appropriate norms and behaviours including how they should interact with others of the same or opposite gender. However, when individuals or groups do not fit into a certain gender, they often face stigma or social exclusion. In turn this leads to lifelong physical and mental health issues, such as depression or anxiety. While most definitions of maleness and femaleness refers to biological sex such as having two X chromosomes or one X and Y chromosome, maleness as well as femaleness in my opinion, means ideal, …show more content…

According to what I believe are maleness and femaleness traits, I do believe that I have both maleness and femaleness traits. However, I believe that I possess more femaleness traits than maleness traits. In terms of femaleness traits, I am nurturing as I like to take care of everyone and make sure they are okay, I am introverted because I am very shy and reserved, empathetic because I like to put myself in the shoes of others to understand how they are actually feeling and I am very emotional because I always show my emotions no matter what mood I am in. However, in terms of maleness traits I only believe that I like to avoid conflict and I am athletic because I enjoy playing many different sports such as soccer.
