When one thinks of a society of genetically advanced individuals at first glance it might seem like an advantage, but upon taking a closer look you can see the flaws in these perfect people. The world of Gattaca is superficial and judgmental; the only way to measure the worth of a person is by the wholesomeness of one's blood. They do not know for sure that someone will die or develop a heart condition all they have to work with is a percentage of the chance of it happening. This brands the world of Gattaca as an unfit and inferior world than our own. When a society discriminates against a group of people they lose valuable and productive members of society. This could never happen because there would always be some people that would be seen as inferior and would be labeled in-valid humans. If you were part of the valid society, it might seem great to be smarter and have a respectable job, but you lose your individuality when the only thing that matters is how suitable your genes are. For an in-valid individual life was awful they were barely seen as people so life would never be better for them and there was no way to progress from their station in life unless they took on the identity of a valid member of society. When a society takes a leap forward it is usually done by an exceptional individual, such as Steve Jobs, Thomas Edison, and Henry Ford to name a few. These people were not only smart they had a creativity and will to create something that an enhanced individual might not possess. Longer living individuals could aid the advancement of the human race, but then the world could have a population issue and the government could implement a policy of only allowing advanced individuals to have a certain number of children and forbidding an in-valid from having any children at
