Success comes in many shapes and sizes. It’s not always easy to attain success, and it can be a baffling process to actualize one’s goals. However, the best place to start is to personalize one’s own definition and vision of what success is. This allows for one’s goals and ideas to materialize and flourish. Success is composed of talent, determination, and happiness. Talent is a substantial factor in how successful one can be. One needs to be able to handle the jobs and opportunities thrown during their journey for success. Without talent in these circumstances, one will feel lost and not be able to profit off of those opportunities. Talent is also essential to do well at one’s passions. Talent can be created through practice. To quote the book Outliers, “Practice isn't the thing you do once you're good. It's the thing you do that makes you good.” (Gladwell). In order to succeed, one must have ambition and be persistent with improving and reaching your goals. To paraphrase Lizzie Velasquez, a motivational speaker, says, “You can achieve your goals if you work hard” (Velasquez). Having perseverance to achieve goals will showcase that one is responsible, hard-working and organized. Malcolm Gladwell in his book Outliers, states, “...If you work hard enough and assert yourself, and use your mind and imagination, you can shape the world to your desires.” (Gladwell). Ergo, if success is imminent, one needs to be able to work through any obstacles that may arise. And if one should fail, one needs to learn to have the ability to get back up again. Additionally, use the lessons learned from that failure to work even harder and achieve more. When one puts focus on the positive repercussions of their mistakes, happiness and fulfillment will soon
